When & why did you join Get Ahead VA: I joined Get Ahead at the beginning of 2021 because I wanted to have the opportunity to help businesses reach their targets and become successful, especially in such unpredictable times.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead VA: I began my working life in the RAF where I spent 10 years learning to think outside the box. From there I became the UK Sales Manager for a French company before I trained to be an IFA. I started an IFA company specialising in planning for retirement which I managed for 10 years before going to university, where I achieved a degree in Law. Following my degree, I was asked to start a company which specialised in providing work skills for people with learning disabilities so they could ultimately secure paid employment. The company provided picking, packing and storage and we successfully won contracts with NEXT, L’Oréal, Haribo, Leeds United, Leeds Rhinos etc. I then moved on to provide business development support to a company helping accountancy practices with HMRC enquiries before finally using my skills to develop a Virtual Assistant company.
Career highlight to date: Establishing two successful companies.
Plans for the future: I really enjoy helping businesses and entrepreneurs to achieve their goals. I also enjoy mountain climbing and look forward to planning some interesting expeditions once we are free to travel again.
