When & why did you join Get Ahead:
I joined Get Ahead VA in September 2022. A friend recommended Get Ahead VA, as I was looking to get back into working after 2 years of maternity leave. I wanted to be part of a team, offering my skillset yet still working with small businesses, while having the flexibility to be there for my daughter.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead:
I became a freelance website designer 9 years ago. I have had the opportunity to work on projects for a variety of industries with a variety of small business owners from many different backgrounds. Working with people who are hardworking and driven, in turn inspires and motivates me. Over the years I have been able to turn my clients’ visions into beautiful, well-designed and functional websites. I recognised early in my career that in order to do this really well, I needed to refine and broaden my skillsets. Therefore, over the years I have taken various courses, researched and built upon my experience, in order to stay up to date with the ever-changing nature of web design industry, learning new skills so that I can grow and evolve alongside my clients and their business.
Career highlight to date:
My greatest career highlight overall is seeing the final product and knowing that I helped to create something that will be used and enjoyed by others. It is very gratifying to be able to deliver a beautiful and functional website that my clients are happy with. I have seen how effective website design has on positively impacting a business and therefore people’s lives. This is incredibly rewarding, and I loved working with clients turn their visions into reality.
Plans for the future:
Currently, my main focus for the following months is to enjoy the precious toddler years with my daughter, be there for her many ‚Äòfirsts’ , yet still do what I love doing best – creating and designing beautiful and functional websites!
