When & why did you join Get Ahead:
When I went back to work part time after maternity leave in 2013, I decided to join the Get Ahead VA family as well.  I have known Get Ahead VA founder Rebecca Newenham for many years Рmy very first design commission was for her wedding!  I had already worked on the Get Ahead VA branding and was interested in completing client work too.  The range of work can be so varied and different to the design I do on a daily basis.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead:
I have worked as a designer for many years and currently work part time at a publishing house, alongside my Get Ahead VA work.  I mainly work on monthly Disney publications, covering design from the cover and internal pages, right through to the polybag and gift design.
Career highlight to date:
I guess for me the highlight is being able to do a job that I have never felt is like WORK.  It makes me happy to design for people and to see how happy they are when I have helped them realise what it is they are looking for Рtranslating their ideas into visual reality.  I have worked on some great projects for Get Ahead VA clients including branding, logo design and communications materials for clients ranging from PR agencies to financial consultants.
Plans for the future:
To keep working as a graphic designer alongside being a mum to my fabulous 20 month old daughter Poppy. As long as the two work harmoniously together and there’s a good balance then everyone is happy. I have also started to work on the design of a children’s lifestyle brand too, so watch this space!
