My experience covers everything from product marketing to business support services. In my previous roles, my skills have extended to product management, communications, event management, research and customer service. I also help companies get ahead by generating and executing ideas, developing and implementing processes, and putting short-term and long-term plans in place.
When & why did you join Get Ahead:
I was introduced to Get Ahead by a fellow expert – and after looking at the site, I knew I wanted to see how I could lend my expertise and be added to its pool of freelancers. The team at Get Ahead VA is extremely friendly and it’s great to know there is a good support network and plenty of useful tools to use too. I’m looking forward to working with like-minded individuals, and lending a hand as a VA alongside other freelancers and as part of a bigger team.
Freelancing is made for me and working with the Get Ahead VA team brings me the opportunity to take on a variety of projects, as well as helping me focus on my best skills while doing what I love. I enjoy meeting new people, too, building relationships along the way. I joined the Get Ahead VA team in July 2021.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead:
I’m a product marketing professional with decades of experience. Throughout my varied full-mix marketing career, I’ve worked for companies big and small, across multiple industries including distribution, mail order, manufacturing, publishing, and retail.
I’ve had the opportunity to get involved in everything from general business support services to devising marketing plans, to product management, to putting my event management skills to good use in an extremely hands-on way. I’ve also covered communications, research, process, database and data analysis, budget management, customer service and account management and I’d love to see how I can help a wealth of clients at Get Ahead.
Career highlight to date:
Mine has been a varied, interesting, ‚Äònever-a-dull-moment’ career with lots of special moments. I’ve been fortunate to collect a bucket-load of transferable skills and knowledge along the way – and all this has brought me to where I am today: in a position which allows me to set up my own freelance business. I’m sure there will be many more highlights to come, and I can’t wait to see what Get Ahead VA has in store.
Plans for the future:
My goal is to firmly establish my freelance business by being part of the success at Get Ahead VA. I’m looking forward to meeting lots of lovely like-minded people and I’ll be refurbishing my garden office shed to ensure I have a lovely space from which to work, all year round.
