When & why did you join Get Ahead:
I joined Get Ahead VA in 2013. I was looking for a flexible work solution that would enable me to work part-time around my son. Right from the outset Rebecca Newenham was really clear about how the business was built on the whole principle of flexible working and how I could work as and when suited me. It has been a privilege to be part of such a talented team of people who are also mostly mothers, and to watch the business grow since then.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead VA:
I am a classically trained FMCG marketer having worked on a variety of household brands including Bisto Gravy, Robertsons Jam, Sharwoods Indian and Oriental foods and Blackthorn cider. I have also led the marketing activity for a luxury skincare and spa brand and a range of premium nursery products. I have worked in businesses from multinational corporate giants with million pound budgets to mumpreneur start-ups with zero budgets so have gained a cross section of transferable marketing skills during my career.
Career highlight to date:
Seeing the new products you have designed go on shelf is always a highlight, as well as watching your TV, Outdoor, radio or PR campaigns go live. My proudest moment was being selected as a finalist for the Marketing Society Young Marketer of the Year awards. Though early on in my career, it was real recognition from leading industry experts of the quality and effectiveness of my work.
Plans for the future:
To gain more awards and positive PR coverage for Get Ahead VA and its’ clients. Personally, I am also looking forward to our youngest son starting school this September and lots of camping adventures during the holidays in our new campervan.
