Name: Louisa Summerfield
Area(s) of expertise:
Business development, HR/recruitment, Sales including cold and warm calls. Previous to this I became a solicitor when I left university and specialised in corporate and business law, but since 2007 have run 2 businesses.
When and why did you join Get Ahead VA?
I joined when Rebecca first started Getahead 12 years ago & was thrown into the deep end working as a head hunter for Morgan Stanley, top COOs and absolutely loved it, then various other roles in recruitment and admin. I joined because I was setting up my own business and leaving the corporate world so needed extra income and discovered a lot of job satisfaction from helping businesses in a less formal way than just laws and regulations.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead VA?
I ran a successful cleaning and services app covering all of London, the app worked using GPS keeping customers in close proximity to service providers. I sold this in September. I also had a fashion business selling specialised yet fashionable clothing for wheelchair women.
I’ve also been helping my daughter launch her app called Foodsnapp which is like Instagram but exclusively for food and drink, the app has a restaurant review functionality and a restaurant/cafe finder.
Career highlight to date:
I guess starting my new businesses from scratch, but back in 2007 my fashion range was launched in London during London Fashion week with a catwalk show with models in wheelchairs. My show attracted huge media attention including TV.
Plans for the future:
To help other businesses achieve their goals and make them succeed.
Then eventually retiring with a place in London and Cairo, I love Cairo and did live their for a few years so speak some Arabic but it is a place that has captured my heart.
