When & why did you join Get Ahead:
I joined Get Ahead VA in May 2021 after seeing a post on LinkedIn from a regional director and getting in touch with her to have a chat about an opportunity to join the team. I realised that they offer VAs the flexibility to have the work/life balance I enjoy whilst also having a fantastic supportive team ethos. I already work from home as a freelance VA but leapt at the chance to join Get Ahead VA to feel more connected to a team of colleagues. Also, it’s lovely to think that I would be able to get holiday cover for clients!
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead:
I’ve worked in lots of industries, including the arts, fashion, graphic design and most recently investment banking. I’ve mainly been a PA, executive assistant or administrator in these, and I was also an RFP (request for proposal) coordinator at the bank, which involved completing lots of due diligence and proposal questionnaires for compliance and regulatory reasons and to tender for new business opportunities. I’ve been freelancing as a VA since 2019 and I love the freedom it gives me to be my own boss.
Career highlight to date:
I really appreciate great feedback from happy clients, and I would probably cite winning a mandate from a banking client as a highlight as it was particularly hard won due to the huge number of documents we completed over the course of a year or so. They said that our RFP was very professional, clear, concise and ultimately the bank provided everything they were looking for in a partnership.
Plans for the future:
I just want to keep freelancing as a VA because I love it and learning lots from clients and colleagues as I go along. Variety is the spice of life and that’s certainly what I’m looking forward to working with the different clients at Get Ahead VA.
