Here’s 60 seconds with our expert

Name: Emma

Area of expertise:

Business Administration, Business Development, Secretariat Services, HR, Marketing, Social Media, Event Management and Fundraising.

When & why did you join Get Ahead:

I discovered Get Ahead at a recent training course and could not wait to connect with my regional director to learn more. I started my own business support services business in 2015 and I found myself looking to expand my client base in 2023 due to the end of a long freelance project and Get Ahead seemed the perfect fit.

What did you do before you joined Get Ahead:

Ran my own business support services business, helping ambitious small businesses and charities to get ahead and achieve their aims and objectives. My services ranged from business administration, secretariat services, recruitment, policies, HR, management/leadership, finance, strategic planning, charity governance, marketing, social media, event management, and fundraising. Before starting my own business, I worked in PA and senior executive support roles as well as business advice and event and marketing management roles in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.

Career highlight to date:

There are so many to choose from. One of my most recent ones is building an organisation from the ground up – from zero to 10 employees, 10 to 130 volunteers, tripling their income, and achieving a BBC Make a Difference Award. Organising an event with the late Prince Philip is also high up on my list.

Plans for the future:

I want to continue to help business owners with administration and operational support, so they succeed and grow, and I am also extremely excited to be starting my Get Ahead journey and becoming part of the community.
