When & why did you join Get Ahead VA:
After working in marketing for the last 10 years I wanted a change of structure to my working life that enabled me to still do what I love whilst making time for other important parts of my life.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead VA:
I initially completed a degree in graphic design; during my first office job out of university (Natural Baby Shower) I found marketing. It allowed me to still have a creative outlet in my work, but I loved the variety that Marketing brought. When I joined Watco my role was to bring the company’s PPC and SEO back in-house from an agency. From Watco I joined The Client Voice, which is a marketing agency that specialises in creating case studies and testimonials about the work their customers do with their clients. This was a varied role with 8-9 different customers; managing all aspects of marketing, events and administration.
I joined Capital Play to take care of their B2C and B2B marketing and with working within the sales team of this small organisation.
Career highlight to date:
A career highlight for me was not long after joined Capital Play, we went into lockdown, with the future unclear and having only been with the company for 4 weeks they needed to let me go. I countered this with the suggestion of cutting my hours for the next 2 months until they had a better idea of the landscape of the business. Within 3 weeks I was back working full time and learning each operational role in the organisation in case anyone was unable to work.
Plans for the future:
To work with a range of businesses and support them in reaching their goals through marketing.
