When & why did you join Get Ahead:

I joined Get Ahead in July 2015. I was already working as a freelance Virtual Assistant and loved the flexibility it gave me. I was thrilled to join Get Ahead VA as it provided opportunity to broaden my client base and the type of projects I worked on. More than that though it offered me the team vibe I had missed from employed life, an aspect which I love to this day.

What did you do before you joined Get Ahead:

I had been working as a virtual assistant for 8 years at the point I joined Get Ahead. It had long been my desire to work for myself but when my children were really small, frustrated by the lack of decent opportunities for flexible (and rewarding) work I decided it was the time to find it for myself and I became a freelancer! Before that I had worked in customer facing managerial roles in market research, manufacturing and professional services,

Career highlight to date:

I worked with my first client to set up a charity which fundraised to build a school in Africa, when the school was built, I was fortunate enough to travel to see the school and meet the staff and pupils which was a humbling experience and real honour. Beyond that, I truly enjoy supporting small businesses and seeing the difference having flexible support can bring to a business owner, you can’t fail to be aware of the importance of every milestone they conquer, I never tire of being on that journey with them!

Plans for the future:

Workwise – learning more about the evolving world of marketing – particularly the systems side of the equation. Out of work – to become qualified as a yoga teacher!
