When & why did you join Get Ahead:
I joined Get Ahead in October 2023 after attending a network event where I had the pleasure of meeting Emma, she was so personable and passionate, she mentioned that they are always looking for talented individuals and so I took the plunge in applying. I was excited about being part of this community and interacting with like-minded people giving me the opportunity for learning and development.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead:
I have 10 years of experience in finance, within industry and practice. I have also had the opportunity to work in various roles and capacities. My previous roles involved many skills / tasks such as Invoicing, chasing payments, reconciling accounts, tax preparation and updating / maintaining records. I then setup myself up as a freelance bookkeeper to provide these services to businesses.
Career highlight to date:
This has to be gaining the confidence and skills to become a freelance bookkeeper. Transitioning from what I would call a ‘traditional’ career path to freelancing was a significant turning point in my professional life.
Plans for the future:
My goals and plans are centred around continuous growth, both personally and professionally, within a supportive community that values development and shared interests. I am dedicated to learning, giving back, and maintaining a balanced life as I work towards these goals.
