When & why did you join Get Ahead VA: 

I first met Fiona Ibbetson, whilst I was pregnant with my youngest child. We chatted about Get Ahead and the experience I’ve gained over the last four years and felt I would be able to offer a great range of skills for their clients.

Whilst I know VA’s can bring a valuable service to many small businesses when it comes to supporting with their social media, I hope that my experience with creating strategies and growing engagement will be an additional skill that many may benefit from.

What did you do before you joined Get Ahead VA: 

I’ve been working as a freelance social media manager for four years, working with a variety of clients from small, local businesses to a national fundraising company, covering a range of fields from construction, to HR, to the charity sector.

During 2020, I pivoted my business to focus on supporting small business owners by providing coaching to help them feel more confident about creating posts for their social media.

Career highlight to date:

I’m a writer at heart, and a massive football fan, so being asked to write a regular column for an Ipswich Town magazine down in Suffolk was a dream come true for me.

It was an opportunity I gained after growing my social media audience and engagement and networking with local journalists and pundits in the area.

Plans for the future: 

I still hope to write for a living one day and am working on an online magazine at the moment to help celebrate fantastic business women in the north.

This year, though, I am enjoying working with passionate small business owners who deserve to have their story heard on social media. It’s a vital time to be showing up online and sharing a consistent message so followers know exactly how you can help them.
