When & why did you join Get Ahead VA:
I joined Get Ahead VA in March 2022 after a recommendation from a friend. Having been self employed for a number of years I was looking for a solution to enable me to concentrate on working with my clients whilst also offering me the same flexibility I have been used to. Get Ahead VA was the perfect solution for me meaning I could continue my current work life balance whilst connecting with great clients, and having a support community with other Get Ahead VA assistants.
What did you do before you joined Get Ahead VA:
I have run my own marketing company for a number of years working with clients from small startups to large corporates on all digital and offline media as well as web development work. I also worked extensively on proposal work with clients bringing with me my extensive bid management experience from previous roles. Having worked with multiple fast paced demanding clients I am used to working in an agile way whilst immersing myself within my clients inhouse teams.
Career highlight to date:
Becoming self employed was a highlight in itself, being able to have the freedom and ability to work with multiple clients is a privilege. In 2021 I also had the opportunity to work with major brands on social campaigns including I heart Wines, Sainsburys, Budweiser, BirdsEye and Schloer. This was a major career highlight as this is typically a market (FMCG) that is difficult to penetrate.
Plans for the future:
Professionally I hope to continue to build on the successes to date and assist other clients in improving their presence. Personally I am also working on training to become a Mental Health Practitioner to enable me to volunteer with children and teens to tackle the growing Mental Health Crisis.
