Meet the VA: Meg Mundy

Here at Get Ahead VA our people are everything. Our ever growing team has a wide range of highly skilled professionals with different backgrounds, expertise and even different personalities to ensure that we can find exactly the right VA to match our customers’ requirements.

Here’s 60 seconds with our VA Meg Mundy

Name:  Meg Mundy

Area of expertise:   General Administration, Human Resources, IT.

When & why did you join Get Ahead VA:  I Joined Get Ahead in June 2021 as I heard great reviews from other members of Get Ahead and wanted to join the organisation to expand my client base. I also wanted the opportunity to help other businesses reach their own goals in these challenging times.

What did you do before you joined Get Ahead VA: After getting a degree in Contemporary Theatre from Manchester Metropolitan University I worked as a member of the Payments and Fraud team at ASDA. I then spent 4 years with the West Yorkshire Police working for their HR IT Systems department dealing with various IT software whilst overseeing their Recruitment System. During my time working for the Police I funded a diploma in Screen Acting at the Yorkshire Academy of Film and Television Acting (YAFTA) in order to develop my performance skills further. After graduating from this institution I worked on various film projects in order to build my acting portfolio whilst still working full time for the Police Force. Overall, even though I found this job very rewarding I decided to leave and become a Partner at the VA company ‘Buzz VA’ as it was an opportunity to use all the skills I had learnt in my previous job roles; giving me the autonomy to work more flexible hours and also enabling me to attend auditions and pursue my creative goals outside of work.

I am a good communicator and can think outside the box. My experience in performance has taught me how to communicate at every level, be it with directors, lighting technicians, other fellow actors or when I’m on stage performing to a live audience.

Career highlight to date:  I would have to say my career highlight was working for the West Yorkshire Police and being promoted to assist the management of the Recruitment system. Here I really learnt a lot technically and I found this new knowledge fascinating. I also got to work closely with the Resourcing department which I really enjoyed as I love working closely with people. Overall, I really learnt skills in this role that have helped me to move forward and be the best VA I can be.

Plans for the future:  I want to continue to help businesses grow. I also want to continue to challenge myself and develop my skill base further.
