Meet the Regional Director: Linda McCormick

Here at Get Ahead VA, our people are everything. We’re dedicated to growing our business all over the country, so our customers can access a wide range of highly skilled professionals wherever they are. We currently have regional offices in Leeds, Harrogate & York, Berkshire & North Hampshire, Suffolk & Essex, East Midlands, Surrey and Oxford, and we’re pleased to announce our latest addition: Dublin.

Here’s 60 seconds with our Dublin Regional Director, Linda McCormick.

When and why did you join Get Ahead?  I’m the newbie in town, having just joined in Autumn 2022! I had done alot of work on my own values and really wanted to take on a role that I would enjoy. I thrive on digging deep and achieving success for myself and my clients but as a mum to 3 children, I needed something that could allow me the flexibility to do that outside of the 9-5.  I came across a video on LinkedIn of Rebecca talking about flexible working and it really resonated with me.  This was what I had been looking for without even knowing it.

What did you do before you joined Get Ahead? I spent 18 years working for hotels, in both operational and administrative roles before moving on to work as a digital account manager for hotels. Essentially advising on all aspects of digital marketing, social media, branding, reputation management, UX and web design. My companies reaction to me taking a day off to deal with a visit to A&E with my 9 month old spurred me on to start my own business which I successfully did for 3 years in the roles of HR, purchasing, accountant, sales, marketing and all of the tasks that come with opening a business as a solo operator – I wish I’d known about virtual experts back then!

Career highlight to date: Some of my proudest moments in business have been seeing recruits that I have made, moving up the ladder and managing departments and hotels themselves. It’s a great honour to be the shoulder someone feels they can lean on to help reach their stars. Oh, and the Awards, who doesn’t love a nice bit of recognition for getting the job done and done well!

Plans for the future: Spend more time building relationships both personally and in business. Enjoy the outdoors more, get back to cooking (I trained to be a chef way back when!) Grow the Get Ahead Brand in Ireland. Encourage business owners to lean on our team of virtual experts without the commitment of a new hire in uncertain times. To encourage more people like myself to join the world of flexible working and enjoy what they do every day.
