What situation was your business in when you came to Get Ahead VA?

I was keen to start using social media in my marketing.  Whilst my Harley Street practice is very successful, I felt there was a great opportunity to use social media to communicate my expertise and in particular connect with a younger demographic who may be looking for Laser Eye surgery procedures.

What problems were you experiencing?

I did not have a Facebook or Twitter account and felt that I didn’t have the time or expertise to set up the pages as well as create suitable content and interact with followers on a regular basis.

What might have happened if you hadn’t taken any action?

I would still be a social media novice.  I simply would not have got round to getting my social media presence up and running.

How did Get Ahead VA help solve the problem for you?

My VA Vanessa set up a business Facebook page and a Twitter account for me, ensuring that the branding and copy were all consistent with my website and other marketing materials.  She carried out research to follow as many relevant and interesting Twitter accounts to begin building followers and set up an ongoing, monthly schedule of content which is then posted onto Facebook and Twitter on my behalf.

Why did you choose a VA and not a part time member of staff?

I did not feel there was enough work to require a part time member of staff and could not justify the investment until I could see what social media could deliver for our business.  Outsourcing to a team of social media experts seemed to be a much more effective solution.

What has this meant to you and your business?

We were delighted to see results so quickly.  After a relatively short period of time, we have over 1,200 followers on Twitter, with excellent post reach and interaction.  But more than that, Rebecca and her team have been amazing at taking away the ‘fear factor’ of social media.  They have taken me from total novice to social media whizz in no time at all.  They have been great to work with; really taken the time to understand my business and listen to my needs before getting everything up and running.  I am now a great advocate of social media and consistently interact and post my own updates, we well as enjoying the benefit of the regular content provided by Get Ahead VA.  I have also gone on to use Get Ahead VA’s blogging services to provide regular content for my website, as well as other website consultancy services.  It is great to have the support of a team of marketing experts on tap, being able to choose the services I need, when I need them.
