2016 has been an exciting year for us here at Get Ahead VA. We have seen our geographical expansion across the UK really start to pay dividends. With new team members joining us to increase our face to face reach in Scotland, Bristol, Reading, Basingstoke, Croydon, Reigate and Redhill the Get Ahead VA family has been growing fast. 9 new team members have joined us, including a number of content marketing experts, another graphic designer and a PA with over 20 years of experience.
A virtual agency approach
We have more big plans for 2017 including cementing our virtual agency approach and developing a potential franchise model to add to our geographic expansion. A virtual agency can do so much more than just assist with admin (though admin is pretty vital too!). This virtual agency approach is something that has started to roll out this year, with clients taking more and more services. For one such client we now look after all of their marketing and PR activities as well as managing their admin and providing telephone answering services. This gives them a one stop shop for many of their business support needs and enables them to get back to what they do best – running their business. As one of our clients said: “To begin with I only had a vague idea of what Get Ahead VA could do for me and now bit by bit it’s getting more and more. My VA will be doing a lot of different tasks for me. She will be managing all of my marketing, CRM and even some creative tasks. She has consistently proven the tasks are in safe hands.”
We have worked with 128 different clients this year from a beauty salon to a leading Microsoft provider. These clients came to us through word of mouth referrals, face to face networking and social media as well as the many expos and awards events our team attended. We exhibited at regional Expos including Guildford Means Business, We Mean Business in Croydon, the South East Business Show and Business Showcase South West. Our founder Rebecca Newenham spoke at Europe’s biggest business show - The Business Show in London on the value of outsourcing.
More awards recognition this year for Get Ahead VA
We were pleased to be awarded the Overall Third Best Home Business in the iHubbub Best Home Business Awards in January. In October we were selected as a finalist in the Mum and Working Awards Flexible Business of the Year category for the third year running, in recognition of the flexible working solution we offer both for our VAs and our clients. We ended the year at the Surrey SME awards as a finalist in the Business of the Year <50 category, surrounded by the very best Surrey businesses and organisations.

After all that hard work most of us are looking forward to a break over Christmas to spend time with our friends and family, before 2017 begins in earnest on Tuesday 3rd January. Our telephone answering team will be working between Christmas and New Year to ensure that our clients can take a break too, knowing that their calls are being answered in a professional way.
