LinkedIN, the widely used business networking website, has announced a major change to their Company Pages which takes place on April 14th. If you have a Company Page on LinkedIN, you don’t have long to get your page in order.
LinkedIN are removing the Products & Services tab from Company Pages, used by many businesses to add depth to their company profile on LinkedIN – showcasing images and information on more detailed aspects of their products and services. LinkedIN are retiring this tab, meaning that the initial Company landing page is now the most important. You may need to revisit this page to ensure that it not only provides a good introduction to your business but also clearly signposts where people can find out more about your products and services should they wish to, perhaps on your website. You may wish to revisit the image you use on your company page and create a composite image which reflects more about the whole nature of your products and services.
The change also highlights the need to use the ‘news’ section of your Company page, ensuring that it is a living and breathing platform of communication for your business – not just a static business description. This ‘news’ feed can be used to feature information on your products and services, as well as other information which may be of use to your followers. Requesting recommendations for particular products and services – or offering them for others will also now become a thing of the past and personal recommendations will be the only method of endorsement within LinkedIN. If you do have recommendations on there now you may wish to download them before you lose them, and contact the endorsers to ask if you can use their testimonials in other aspects of your marketing.
