This month we are celebrating six years since Get Ahead VA began and what another fantastic twelve months it has been for the business.
This year, a key focus has been on expanding our geographical reach beyond our Surrey base. Though we have always been able to offer nationwide services, we felt that as the business grew there was a real opportunity to extend our presence on the ground in key regions and cities.
As a result, we have been delighted to welcome a number of new virtual assistants to our team. Beverley McMillan joined us to lead our expansion into Scotland from her Glasgow base, working closely with our telephone answering team who are also based there. Kimba Cooper came on board to lead the development of the South West region from the city of Bristol. We strengthened our Surrey and Hampshire base with Audrey looking after Croydon, Jo focussing on Redhill and Reigate and Jane supporting clients around Basingstoke and Reading.
Rebecca and the team really enjoyed exhibiting at a number of trade shows across the south including Guildford Means Business, We Mean Business Expo in Croydon, Thames Valley Business Expo in Windsor and the Business Growth Show in Bristol to name a few. The real highlight of the year was The Business Show in London – the biggest business show in Europe where we were delighted to be not just exhibiting but our founder and CEO Rebecca hosted a seminar on ‘The value of outsourcing to the right people at the right time’. Rebecca said: “I was delighted to see so many people at the seminar, but I was not surprised given how busy the exhibition arena was and how many people had already stopped to chat with us on our stand. It was great to see people really understanding the benefits of outsourcing and what it could deliver for their businesses – large or small.”
Awards wise during the year we were pleased to be awarded the Overall Third Best Home Business in the iHubbub Best Home Business Awards in January. Later in the year we were selected as a finalist in the Mum and Working Awards Flexible Business of the Year category for the third year running, in recognition of the flexible working solution we offer both for our VAs and our clients.
Reflecting on the past year, Rebecca says: “The last year has flown by and the business has continued to grow so much during that time. My personal highlight has been seeing the relationship between our VAs develop. Although we are all home based and work virtually, we use tools like social media to really engage with each other and get to know one another. The new VAs that have joined the team have all integrated really well. Our sense of team spirit can only continue to benefit both ourselves and our clients as we work together to deliver for our clients.”
