Here at Get Ahead VA we are privileged to work with a wide variety of clients ranging from will writers to window cleaners, financial consultants to fashion designers.  All of our clients are motivated and driven business owners, with clear plans for business growth.  They recognise the value of outsourcing, passing onto others tasks that either they lack skills in, or tasks that drain their valuable time.  

Here’s 60 seconds with one of our clients Robert Sell at Langton Care, who started working with Get Ahead VA when they wanted to expand their care business out of their Devon base and into the Surrey area:

What situation was your business in when you came to Get Ahead VA?  We were running a very successful care home business based in Devon, but we were looking to expand and run a 24 hour live in care service nearer to where the company directors lived in Surrey.  We had launched the new service using personal contacts but needed to start marketing and looking at social media and we were looking for local support.  We met Rebecca from Get Ahead VA at the Guildford Means Business event and we could immediately see how her business could benefit us.

What problems were you experiencing?  We had lots of great ideas but were not so good at follow up.  We had no experience of social media, but we knew it would be a key marketing tool for our new business.  We needed to find a local organisation that could turn our ideas into actions, supplying the additional skills and experience we needed. 

What might have happened if you hadn’t taken any action?  We would have managed to launch the business on our own, but our efforts would definitely not have been as focussed or as successful.  We would have been trying to do a bit of everything, as opposed to focussing on direct selling which we know is what we do best.  

How did Get Ahead VA help solve the problem for you?  The Get Ahead VA team have been fantastic.  Angela has been our social media guru and not only runs our accounts for us but has also taught us some useful skills too.  Jayne has been completing research for us, creating a marketing programme of meetings and events where we can promote our services effectively. Rebecca stays involved and is always there if we need her or if we need a different skill set.  We are now thinking about creating a video for the service and are sure Rebecca will know just the right person for the job.  

Why did you choose a VA and not a part time member of staff?  Our requirements were varied across marketing and social media and at this stage only really needed a commitment of a few hours per week, as opposed to the few days a week you would need to provide for a part time member of staff.  

What has this meant to you and your business?  Outsourcing to Get Ahead VA has worked brilliantly for us as our VAs fit our business so well.  We meet with them regularly and when needed to refine their brief.  We give them flexibility to use their expertise and they have opened doors for us, allowing us to gain new contracts all the time.  We now have a successful launch plan in place.  We feel well supported and can focus on the future, knowing there is a team of experts there to support us.
